Walter E. Domina, while a four-year performer in basketball, is best remembered for his exploits as a football running back for the Cadets from 1939 to 1942. Walt still owns the following NU gridiron records: most touchdowns in a game (five) and most points in a game (31), both achieved against Middlebury in1940; most touchdown passes in a game (five), against Hyannis in1940; and most point in a season (106 in 1940) and best punting average in a season (39.98 yards, 1940). While at Norwich, Waltalso participated in the Drama Club.

Upon graduation, he embarked on a thirty-year career in the Marine Corps, seeing action in the Pacific during World War II as well as in Korea and Vietnam. Other tours of duty took him to GreatBritain and Japan. Among his stateside assignments was the role of commanding officer of a reconnaissance squadron involved in detecting missiles in Cuba in the 1962 crisis. COL Domina's last duty was as commander of the United States Navy prison at Portsmouth, N.H. where he instituted rehabilitation and work release programs.

Following retirement from the USMC, Walt served as a penal consultant in New Hampshire, managed the sixty-store complex of the Newington Mall (N.H.), and was a travel consultant. At the time of induction, Walt was active in his church and in the Rotary International; the International Legion of Honor, De Molay; the American Red Cross; the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce; the Boy Scouts of America; the United Way; and the Navy League of the United States.
