Ken Howard was a three-year letterwinner for the hockey team during his time at Norwich University, playing under legendary head coach Bob Priestley.
"It was an honor to play for Coach Priestley and alongside teammates that are now lifelong friends," says Howard, "not to mention beating the Panthers (of Middlebury College) seven out of eight times!"
A native of Warwick, Rhode Island, Howard graduated with a B.S. degree in Business in 1965.
Known as the "Hound Dog," Howard has been one of the top Norwich hockey fans in attendance over the years.
"Kenny Howard has been an ambassador for Norwich, and more specifically NU hockey, since graduation in 1965," states Tom Rogon '65. "He has been active in recruiting and fundraising and was instrumental in putting together the alumni hockey game over the years."
Howard was an NU admissions recruiter for 35 years. Over the years Howard has served as the vice president of the Rhode Island Alumni Club, a ten-year stint on the Board of Fellows, and spent time on the Blue Line Club executive board.
In addition to his numerous years of service to Norwich, Howard was deeply involved with the Cub and Boy Scouts as well as youth hockey. He served as a Scoutmaster for the Cub Scouts and on the executive committee for the Boy Scouts. Howard coached youth hockey and at one point served as the president of the Rhode Island Relics hockey club.
Howard is married to his wife Nancy. The couple has three grown sons, Jeff, Jay and Doug.
The couple currently resides in Warwick.
