The two-year captain graduated as the all-time points leader in Men's Lacrosse history, which stood until 2022. McCarthy made an impact for the Cadets from the second he stepped on the field winning the team's Rookie of the Year in his freshman campaign. He followed that up with being named team MVP each of the next three seasons. As a sophomore, Scott ranked 11th in the nation in assists (24) and points (53). McCarthy opened his senior season with a bang by breaking the school scoring record in the Cadets' season opener, which he would finish with 37 goals, and 26 assists for 63 points. Those totals landed him on the All-New England Second Team as well as a roster spot in the East/West All-Star game. When all was said and done, McCarthy tallied 126 goals, 84 assists for 210 points.Â
"It was a big deal for my Dad was was the guy that bought me my first stick and really showed me the game," McCarthy said on holding the all-time points record. "It's something him and I have shared for years now. I really hope someone else gets the chance to experience that now. It's something I take a lot of pride in."Â
McCarthy's favorite lacrosse memory came from his senior season when the Cadets defeated arch-nemesis Plymouth State 13-10. "They whooped us pretty good a lot of the time so it was nice to finally beat them my last year."Â
"It's a great reward for what were a couple of pretty special years of my life," McCarthy said about his induction. "The class or two before me kind of got the program going in the right direction. It paved the way for the younger guys that I came in with to figure out what we needed to do to be successful."Â
Although the game has changed dramatically since McCarthy had a stick in his hands, he still remains one of the greatest lacrosse players to wear a Cadet uniform.Â
"The game has changed a ton," he said. "It's much faster than it ever was when I played. There are so many people at the youth and other levels that are making the players so much better."Â Â
