Maureen Curran-Cloutier is one of the most prolific scorers in Norwich University Women's Soccer history. She holds the NU records for most goals in a career (59), is second for assists in a career (30), and holds the record for most points in a career with 148. Despite her scoring ability, Coach Steve Looke describes her as "incredibly unselfish." As a senior, she was named to the All-New England team and captained the team to a conference title. A two-sport athlete at Norwich, she also served as team captain for the Lady Cadets Basketball team in her senior year, leading them to the ECAC playoff semi-finals.
Curran-Cloutier graduated with a BS in health education, and for the last six years she has been teaching special education at Gardiner High School in Gardiner, Maine. "I think the biggest thing I get out of special ed is the reward of seeing students achieving the best they can. To see the happiness they achieve in something as simple as passing a test is quite fulfilling," she says.
Curran-Cloutier also serves as the girl's variety soccer coach at Gardiner High School, which she says has given her a better understanding of what coaches do and how they handle player discipline. "I learned a lot from the coaches that I had in past and it has helped me to become a better coach," she explains.
