Robert Ulrich was a four-year standout on the Norwich University wrestling team, compiling a 97-37 career record. He was a two-time New England champion as a junior and senior, including a career-best eighth place finish in 1999 as a junior to earn All-American honors.
Ulrich was also voted the New England Conference Outstanding Wrestler, as voted on by the coaches during his junior season.
Ulrich is a four-time All-New England honoree and is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in program history. He never finished lower than third at the New England Championship meet and posted a 25-3 record as a senior, en route to winning the 133-pound weight class.
“‘Don’t mess with the family’ is a short and simple quote that stuck with me over the years,” Ulrich said. “I think the blood and sweat we shed together made us close. But the fact that we always had each other’s back, that’s what made us family. I had a lot of great memories with my teammates over the years on the mat that have helped shape me into the individual that I am today.”
Ulrich has served as the Director of Centralized Procurement at Penske Transportation for the last 11 years. He lives in Reading, Pa., where he also grew up.
Ulrich has been married to his wife Jennifer since 2009. Jennifer works at Towers Health Hospital and recently earned her Master’s degree from Alvernia University. They have three children, Chase, Tyler and newborn Tyson. Chase plays baseball and wrestles, while Tyler is a football player and wrestler.
Ulrich has coached multiple youth programs over the years including wrestling, baseball and football in order to stay active in sports.
