Dale B. Montgomery was a three-sport man at Norwich, competing in golf, baseball, and basketball. A baseball captain in his senior year, he led several strong Joe Garrity clubs in the early fifties; however his greatest prowess was on the hardwood, where he was named All-State four times. One of Norwich's all-time leading scorers, he played on the 19-2 Duke Benz team of 1953-1954 and the 18-6 Joe Mullaney club the following year, helping the cadets to their best two-year record ever. Among Dales memorable performances was a 32-point effort as a freshman in a win over Plattsburgh, a game in which he made a school record 18 of 18 free throws. Dale also coached in the NU fraternity league. The top graduate in his class and a four-year Dean's List student, he was extremely active on campus, participating in the following: Band, Glee Club, Skull and Swords, Varsity Club, Epsilon Tau Sigma, French Club, Biology Club, and Signal Honor Platoon. He was also class vice-president. Dale rose to the rank of captain while stationed in Germany with the US Army Dental Corps. He is currently specializing in pediatric dentistry and as taught dentistry at Tufts (where he received his DMD) and the University of Vermont. He is a member of several dental associations and is part president of the Champlain Valley Dental Society. Dale is also active in Rotary International and the NRA's Ducks Unlimited.
