Hall of Fame
Head coach Jesse Castro's 1990-91 squad is the first wrestling team to be inducted into the Norwich Hall of Fame. The Cadets finished 22nd as a team at the NCAA Championships and for the second season, finished ahead of all New England schools.
The Cadets were led by NCAA national runner-up and heavyweight John Brigham. John fashioned a 96-19-1 record over his brilliant career. He won 27 of his 33 matches on the season, and was the first New England wrestler to reach the finals since 1983 and was the only Norwich wrestler to win four New England championships.
Other members to achieve major success at New England that year were Chuck Massarachia (second place, 177-pound weight class), John Bushee (second place, 150), Kenny Schiller (second place, 126), Shane Blake (third place, 134), Pat Fitch (fourth place, 118), Mike Babyak (fifth place, 180), and Kurt Litchenwald (fifth place, 167). Brigham and Phil Davis captained the team.
