Hall of Fame
Michael C. Lyford and his late father, Lefty Lyford, become the first father-son combination to enter the Norwich University Athletic Hall of Fame. Like his father, for whom he played, Mickey made his mark on the soccer field, where he owns or shares eight NU records: goals in a season (16, 1968) and career (33), assists in a season (9, 1968) and career (91), goals in a game (4, tied), and points in a game (10, tied). Mickey earned three varsity letters in soccer and was a leader and MVP on the 1968 Cadet team that became the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Champions. He was named All-State his last three years as well as All-New England as a senior. On campus, Mickey was active in intramurals and was a member of the Ring Committee and the Corps Honor Committee.Â
