Hall of Fame
Colin Mulvey is one of the most decorated Norwich men’s hockey players ever. The 2013 recipient of the Joe Concannon Award (New England’s best American-born player in Divisions II and III), Mulvey was also the NEWHA New England Division II-III Player of the Year and a CCM East Region First Team All-American selection the same year.
He concluded his time at Norwich with 43 goals and 35 assists for 78 career points, and was a part of the 2010 NCAA Div. III National Championship team, as well as three ECAC East Tournament Championship squads.
“Being inducted into the Norwich Athletic Hall of Fame is deeply meaningful to me,” said Mulvey. “I started my journey at Norwich from the very bottom, the sole player on the sixth line. Receiving the call about my induction was a moment of shock and gratitude, a raw emotion my girlfriend was able to capture on video. While it’s humbling to be the first from our remarkable team to earn this distinction, I’m confident I won’t be the last. I’m looking forward to the day my teammates join me in the Hall of Fame, a true testament to our powerhouse of a team.”
Mulvey was the leading scorer for the Cadets his senior season, tallying 19 goals and dishing out 19 assists for 38 points, nearly doubling his career totals. He also led the nation with nine game-winning goals and helped the Cadets clinch their unprecedented 15th-straight ECAC East regular season title.
“A standout memory is undoubtedly the senior season PrimeLink tournament final. We began that game on a shaky note, with Coach McShane making no effort to sugarcoat his thoughts on our performance. Yet, as the game progressed, our team’s unwavering self-belief and sheer talent became evident. The climax was that last-second goal against Middlebury; my linemates perfectly positioned me for an unmissable shot. The euphoria of that moment, immortalized in a photo with Tory leaping into my arms, is something that brings a smile to my face every time I see it.”
Over his four years, Mulvey aided the Cadets to a dominant 96-14-10 overall mark and 62-5-7 record in conference play. Mulvey is just one of two Cadets to ever receive the Joe Concannon Award, alongside Keith Aucoin ’01.
“My experience at Norwich, particularly as a member of the ice hockey team, fundamentally influenced who I am today. I came to Norwich somewhat reserved, but my teammates--true comrades--sparked a confidence within me that hasn’t faded. From cherished friendships, navigating my professional path, to the bold step of founding my own company, Norwich’s imprint is evident in every chapter of my story.”
