Bruce Beaney was one of the most outstanding defensemen to lace up the stakes and pick up a stick for a Norwich University hockey team. AS co-captain of the 1967 team, Beaney was rewarded for his efforts by being named to the first team All-East, Division II hockey team. He was also named to the Vermont All-State team.

"Beans" was noted for his exceptional stick handling and skating ability. He was a key member of the 1967 team that played in the ECAC Division II finals and fashioned the finest record for a hockey team to that point in Norwich University history. Bruce is the third member of that team to be nominated and inducted into the Norwich University Athletic Hall of Fame, joining teammates Roger Guilemette '67 and Charlie Holden '67. His contributions, sometimes subtle, allowed Norwich to win many close, including 9 games by one goal and 4 of 5 overtime games, the 5th being a tie. His ability to score and set up the team's front line for goals was major reason the '67  team was able to make it to the top of ECAC Division II hockey.

Following his graduation from Norwich, Bruce pursued a career in coaching as head coach of the hockey team at Lyndon Institute in Lyndon, Vermont.
Bruce later turned his interest to horse breeding. He has become an owner and breeder of Standard Breed horses in Brookville, New York. Bruce also works as real estate broker in the Brookville area. He and his wife, Barbara, have two daughters, Kimberly and Kristin.
