Erick Hoskins was a member of the Norwich University variety rifle team for four years helping the squad to the NCAA Rifle Championships during his junior and senior years. NU took 4th place in 1993 and the team brought back its first NCAA Collegiate Rifle Trophy to Northfield . At the 1994 NCAA Rifle Championship, while serving as team captain, the Cadets finished in 6th place and Hoskins was named to the NRA Collegiate Smallbore All American Team. During his sophomore year, he was the first rifle team member to shoot over an 1150 in smallbone. After making an immediate impact as a freshman, He was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Distinguished Service to the University by former Norwich President W.Russell Todd.
Hoskins participated in the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival was at the Alamodome in San Antonio,Texas, as one Top 10 male and female rifle athletes, and the only participant from the Eastern U.S. He says while the festival was not the actual Olympics, the athletes definitely experienced the Olympic spirit. While walking on San Antonio's riverfront, he says he was amazed that people saw his Olympic pass and then asked for his autograph.
After graduating with a BS in physical education and a minor in sports medicine, Hoskins served as the assistant athletic trainer for the Pawtucket Rod Sox. A few months later. he worked for physical therapy clinic and oversaw the athletic training duties for the three sports teams a UMASS Dartmouth . He eventually left the athletic training industry and has since served as the sales manager for a family owed business.
Hoskins and his wife Sharon two sons, Christopher (3) and Benjamin (2), and they reside in Rhode Island leagues,and has won many state and regional championships. In 2000, he took part in the November Champioships at Camp Perry in Ohio, where he made the U.S. Dewar Team.
