    Educator, Coach
Steve Ingram spent numerous decades in service to the Norwich community as a coach, educator, and active member of its social fabric.  He was part of the inception of rugby on the campus, witnessing its transformation from an informal gathering of faculty, staff, and students into a structured competitive club team for student-athletes.

A math professor on campus Ingram first worked with the rugby team as a player-coach, coaching the backs as well as competing amongst them.  The NU men's rugby team was officially established as a club in 1970.

In addition to serving as a rugby coach, Ingram served time as an assistant basketball coach and coached track for 15 years primarily working with the field sports.  He spent one spring assisting on the football staff when they were short-handed.

"Those were great years.  As a player, faculty member and coach," says Ingram of his time at Norwich.  "I had a real satisfaction watching rugby grow from an informal club to something Norwich could really be proud of."

Originally from Rehobus, Massachusetts, Ingram graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Mathematics.  While there Ingram played football, basketball and ran track for the Polar Bears.

Ingram arrived at Norwich following completion of his graduate work at the University of Colorado in 1969.

Ingram and his wife Shirley have four grown daughters, Susan, Tracy, Krista and Lauren.  The couple has seven grandchildren.

Ingram and his wife currently reside in Harpswell, Maine.
