Allen helped lead the NU women’s basketball team to its first GNAC title as a senior in 2000. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the GNAC tournament and still sits among the program leaders in rebounds, points and blocked shots. She was just the third NU women’s basketball player to reach 1,000 career points and 900 career rebounds. Allen also held program records at the time in career free throws and a single season.
During her senior year, she recorded 11 double doubles in 21 games and posted career highs in points (25) vs. Coast Guard and rebounds (22) vs. Endicott. She also led the team with a 52.9 percent field-goal percentage. She was named the MVP of the Wellesley Tournament after scoring the game-winning basket in the championship game.
Allen was a 4-time GNAC Player of the Week award winner en route to being named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team.
“My basketball teammates and I are all still really close,” Allen said. “I loved all of our times traveling, singing songs and hanging out.”
“It’s definitely an honor and exciting be nominated for the Norwich Hall of Fame,” Allen said. “None of this would have been possible without the support of my family, friends, coaches and above all, my teammates.”
Since graduating from Norwich, Allen went on to get her Master’s Degree in Education of the Deaf from Smith College. She works as a teacher and consultant for the deaf through the Nine East Network in Montpelier.
Allen and her husband Ben Moulton ’00, who is also a Norwich alum live in Montpelier, Vt. and have two daughters, Corinna (nine) and Kaya (six).
