McLean is arguably the most decorated player in the 100-plus year history of Norwich men’s hockey. He was a four-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American, as well as the Sid Watson Player of the Year Award winner as the nation’s top Division III player as a senior.

McLean holds the Norwich school record for career goals with 118 to go along with 94 assists for 212 career points. His career point total ranks third behind only Keith Aucoin and Marc Bellemare. McLean was the two-time ECAC East Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and was named an ECAC East First Team All-Conference selection all four years.

As a sophomore, McLean scored 25 goals and added 23 assists for 48 points to lead the Cadets in scoring en route to the program’s second national championship in 2003.

“My favorite memories are the interactions with our president, coaches, faculty, and alumni who cared for us as athletes, students and more importantly individuals,” McLean said. “Their passion for Norwich will always be remembered, something I believe was passed along to each graduating member. Lastly, I'll never forget the teammates and friends from Norwich whom I still have today. The large group of teammates who stay in touch, travel across a country to attend a wedding, and who are always willing to lend a hand when another is in need. I'll never forget these people and these brothers.”

Since graduating from Norwich, McLean has enjoyed a successful professional hockey career, which included a four-game stint in the National Hockey League with the New York Islanders during the 2008-09 season.

For the last seven seasons, McLean has bounced around in various leagues in Europe. This season, he is currently living in Vienna, Austria and playing for the Vienna Capitals. His wife Emma and young son Ryder live with him.
