Thomas W.W. Atwood, Cadet regimental commander, captained the NU rifle team, garnering first place in the New England Rifle League in 1952 and 1953. The three-year (1951-53) All-American was the National Intercollegiate Rifle Champion in 1952. LTC Atwood retired from the Army in 1977 after 28 years of service, encompassing tours in Germany, Vietnam, and the United States.
