Sharon House starred for the women’s soccer team from 1992 to 1995 and still holds three all-time program goalkeeper records and three single-season records. House remains the all-time saves leader (695), and wins (32) and shutouts (20) record holder in Norwich women’s soccer history.

House also holds the record for most wins (12), shutouts (eight) and saves (239) in a single season. She helped lead Norwich to the New England Women’s Athletic Conference (NEWAC) Championship in 1993, defeating Nichols College in overtime. She was named to the NEWAC All-Tournament team for her efforts.

House earned GNAC All-Conference First Team honors in her final season in 1995, leading the Cadets to a 12-6 record and the most team victories in a single season at the time. The 1995 team’s 12 victories are still the fourth most in the program’s 36-year year history.

Before beginning her US Navy career, House spent one additional year at Norwich University and had the opportunity to work as an assistant coach with the women’s soccer team with head coach Steve Looke.

House continues her Naval career of over 24 years as a Navy Nurse Corps officer, where she is currently a Captain. Her career has spanned assignments to Jacksonville, Fla.; Rota, Spain; Newport, R.I.; Charlottesville, Va.; Portsmouth, Va.; Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Quantico, Va.; Camp Pendleton, Calif. and multiple deployments across the globe. Additionally, she has earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Virginia as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Wound Care Expert.

Currently, she serves as the Executive Officer for Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Calif. and its 18 Branch Health Clinics. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton is one of the Navy’s largest medical treatment facilities providing care across Southern California and Arizona to 60,000 Marines, sailors, family members, and retirees.

“Though it was 25 years ago, I know the experiences I had taught me an incredible amount and those lessons of teamwork, perseverance and believing in others are ones I still lean on today,” House said. “I am incredibly honored for this recognition, but soccer is a team sport. This is a reflection of all my teammates and coaches. I know I would not be here without all of them.” House also serves as the Commanding Officer of Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) Alpha. EMF Alpha is a 150-bed field hospital unit similar to many deployed recently in support of civilian hospitals and vaccination efforts combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

House lives in Fallbrook, Calif. with her wife Stacy, a 1999 Norwich University graduate.
