Emily Caruso is one of the most decorated athletes to ever walk the grounds of Norwich University. A four-year letter winner with the rifle team, Caruso has gone on to experience continued success on both the national and international stages of competition.
During her time as a collegian, Caruso was a four-time All-American in both the air rifle and smallbore categories. She won a NCAA individual national championship in air rifle in 1998, finishing runner-up in the event in both 1999 and 2000.
Caruso also played first in the National Rifle Association (NRA) national air rifle sectionals in 1997 and 1999.
Though it was her weaker event, Caruso also attained sixth and ninth-place NCAA finishes in smallbore during her career.
The Fairfield, Connecticut native served as team captain in 2000 and earned a degree in Psychology.
A two-time Olympian, Caruso competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics as a member of Team USA. Competing in the women's 10m air rifle she finished ninth in Athens and 15th in Beijing.
Caruso has been a four-time USA Shooting Air Rifle National Champion winning in 2002 before accomplishing a three-peat in 2005, 2006, and 2007. She was also champion of the 2006 Spring Selection Match and notched a first-place finished in the 2008 USA Olympic Team Trials.
Caruso currently lives at the USA Olympic training facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
