Hall of Fame
David Brigham came to Norwich from Duxbury, Massachusetts, and a year at the Bridgton Academy. In 2007, he was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame after being captain of the football team. At Norwich, he lettered four years in football, was captain his senior year and won numerous Player of the Game awards for defense. Both Brigham's father and brother are Norwich alums who were previous football captains as well. He also earned a one year varsity letter in Wrestling.Â
After graduating, Brigham was commissioned into the U.S. Army and Served in Germany as the Cold War came to an end. He was promoted to First Lieutenant and then Captain, and was selected for the Special Forces Officer Qualification course. In 1995, he became a Green Beret and commanded a Special Forces Military Free Fall Operational Detachment until 1998.Â
Brigham's work earned him a promotion to Major and he was selected to participate in the Army's Foreign Area Officer program. He would be trained to be a regional expert to an area of U.S. strategic interest. He was assigned to the former Soviet Union. Brigham's work in Russia has been varied. He has worked with the POW-MIA team to locate remains of downed US pilots. He has facilitated programs to help in modernizing Russia's forces under the US Security assistance office.
