Cheatham was a four-year standout on the men's basketball team for head coach Paul Booth. He was a three-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference selection, concluding his career with first team honors as a senior. He averaged 18.8 points per game in his final year and was named the team most valuable player. He finished his career with 1,450 points and 731 rebounds.
