Allen is one of the most decorated swimmers in Norwich University women’s swimming and diving program history. She still holds three school records in the 50, 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. She also held three more upon graduating in the 100 individual medley, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay.

Sevi was a New England champion in the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke and also qualified for the NCAA Division III National Meet in 1993. She earned back-to-back Academic All-American honors as a junior and senior while also earning All-New England honors in 1990, 1992 and 1993 in the 50, 100 and 200 yard breaststroke.

“It’s an honor and thrilling to be inducted into the Norwich Hall of Fame,” Allen said. “I never would have imagined that 20 years later swimming breaststroke would be my greatest natural talent. My coach Steve Looke was laid back and patient and it really worked out well. I appreciated that and it really helped me succeed while at Norwich.”

Sevi came to Norwich as a transfer student and had actually quit swimming due to tendinitis in her shoulder. Her father was a teacher at Norwich and convinced her to join the swim team.

“Norwich gave me the opportunity to end my career on a good note,” Sevi said. “I really got into cross-training by mountain biking on the Paine Mountain. I entered the season in really good shape and was able to focus on my technique more than constant repetitions.  Mountain biking helped bridge me to my post-Norwich life.”

Following Norwich, Allen went on to be a nurse in some remote native hospitals in Alaska. Marcy and her husband Adam, who is an Associate Professor in the Norwich Engineering Department, moved back to Northfield six and half years ago. Marcy works at the Gifford Birthing Center and has two daughters, Sophia, 8 and Elizabeth, 4.
