Although he was a promising member of the Cadet football squad in his freshman year, Charles A. Holden made his mark in hockey, where he was among the outstanding defensemen in New England for three years. He co-captained the Cadet skaters to a 15-8-1 remark in his senior season. In 1967 he was named Division II All-New England and also appeared in Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities. Active on campus, Charles was Chairman of the Honor Committee, Senior Class Secretary, President of the Varsity Club, and was a member of the PResident's Round Table; he also attained the rank of major in the NU Corps of Cadets. 
Charley Holden rose to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, where he received several decorations, among them the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star. He concluded his service with four years as a reserve officer.
Charley has been an extremely active alumnus, co-chairing all reunions for the class of 1967, serving on the NU Alu,ni Board of Directors (Vice President), and organizing the Friends of Norwich Hockey as well as a testimonial for Hall of Famer Bo Priestley. He is also past president of the Boston Alumni Club and a lifetime member of the Patridge Society.
Charley is currently the president of Charles Holden Associates, Inc., the Middlesex Falls Nursing Home, Inc., Cap World, Inc., and MF Realty Trust Inc. In addition to being a nationally recognized collegiate hockey official, who is supervisor of Hockey East, he is very active in community affairs, serving on the Board of Directors of the Melrose Rotary Club and the Melrose VNA, chairing the Melrose Cancer Society and coaching in several hockey and baseball leagues. Charley resides in Lynnfield, MA, with his wife, Judith, and their children, Chad and Jennifer.
