Kenneth D. Fairchild was an outstanding three0sport athlete at Norwich, starring in basketball, baseball, and football. A four-year member of the Cadet basketball team and a senior captain, he averaged a career-high 14.8 points as a sophomore, was MVP as a junior, and finished his career with 776 points and a 9.5 ppg average. On the diamond, he was a short-stop and relief pitcher who captained the 1974 squad and hit .392 while leading the nation in triples with five and earning team MVP honors. Ken;s autumns were spent as a wide receiver on the Cadet football team, where his consistency resulted in 67 career catches for 1362 yards (for a school record 20.3 yards per catch) and 9 touchdowns. He was honorable mention All-New England as a junior and as a senior and received NU's Garrity Award for leadership, scholarship, and athletic performance, an award that includes all varsity sports, in 1974. 

Ken began a very successful teaching/coaching career at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, VT in 1974. He has coached football, baseball, and basketball at BFA, making his mark on the hardwood, where he has won 194 games in 15 years, twice being named Vermont Boys' Basketball Coach-of-the-Year and winning one state title. He has been honored with the Vermont Boys' Basketball Coaches' Association 100-Wins Plaque and was a Silver Medalist in the National High School Select Circle of Coaches Award competition. 

Ken, who received his masters from UVM in 1987 in Administration and Planning, is a volunteer in the Association of Retarded Citizens and at the St. Albans Recreation Department. He is also the founder of the St. Albans Boys' Basketball Association. 

A native of Malone, NY, Ken resides in St. Albans with his wife, Jean, and their daughter, Kathryn.
