Martin Wasserman came to Norwich as a transfer from Hartwick College and immediately became a mainstay in offensive line as a tackle. During his Norwich Career, he was named First Team All-Vermont, All-New England Small College, and Outstanding Athlete Tau Delta Phi National Fraternity. Wasserman also started on the basketball court where he was named All-Vermont in 1951 and Honorable Mention in 1952. He graduated from Norwich with honors, also receiving the distinction of being named DMS(Distinguished Military Student). Wasserman later earned his Master's Degree at New York University. Upon graduation, Wasserman was invited to the training camp of the Green Bay Packers, but duty called and he chose to join the armed forces as a 2nd Lieutenant where he served on active duty for two years . In 1959, Wasserman took position teaching adolescent inmates at the New York correctional family on Rikers Island. Under his leadership, the program became a model for correctional institutions. Wasserman returned to his alma mater, Clinton High School, where he taught for 32, years. He was twice elected Teacher of the Year and was recently inducted to the Clinton High Athletic Hall of Fame. Marty and his wife Mirian have four children, Peter, Roger,Heidi, and Michelle. Now retired, Wasserman spends his time transporting his two grandsons to their hockey games.
