Although best known for his prowess on the football field, where he was team captain, Albert C. Molter was an extremely versatile athlete, competing not only in football for four years but in basketball for three, track for two, and wrestling for one season. In all, he earned seven varsity letters and was named "The Athlete of Most Value to Norwich" in his senior year, winning the Silver Cup. Her versatility was most apparent on the gridiron, where he played guard, tackle, and end in the era of the two-way player. 
Al Molter was also very active on campus. He was a member of Skull and Swords and Sigma Phi Epsilon and served on the Winter Carnival Committee, the War Whooop Board, and the Junior Week Committee. In addition, he was class secretary his last two years and held the rank of captain in the Corps of Cadets. 
Al's football career led to a coaching position at Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York, where he led his team to the Harvard Cup Championship in 1935 while also holding a position as investigator for the Erie County Welfare Department. 
In 42 years of service in the United States Army, both active and reserve, Al rose to the rank of colonel. Among his military honors are the World War II Victory Medal; the European-African Mid-Eastern Campaign Medal; The Medal, 2nd Degree, 1 category from the Shah of Iran; the National Defense Service Medal; and the Army of Occupation (Japan) Medal. He also served a tour as Professor of Military Science at Lehigh University from 1953-1957. Al returned to Lehigh in 1960, where he was Director of Purchasing until his retirement in 1974.
Al Molter served his community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and as President of  the Rotary Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He has also been involved in church related activities as well as a foreign student exchange program. 
Al, a native of Buffalo, New York, and his wife, Emma, who are the parents of Albert Jr. (NU '66) and Alice (Molter) Mohr, reside in McLean, Virginia.
