Donald A. MacInnis was a high-scoring hockey forward on three Bob Priestly hockey squads.  He led the Cadets in scoring for three consecutive years and was named Small College All-American in 1959.  Don finished his career with 108 points (52-56), placing him 19th on the all-time NU scoring list.  He averaged 1.48 points per game.
Don was very involved in campus life, serving four years each on the Junior Weekend Committee and the Winter Carnival Committee.  A varsity club member for three years, as a senior he was class treasurer, a member of the Canterbury Club, and a varsity cheerleader.  A member of Theta Chi, he was active in intramural and fraternity sports.
A native of Melrose, Mass., Don was the senior captain of the Melrose High School hockey team that captured the 1956 New England Hockey Championships, defeating St. Dominic's of Lewiston, Maine (Fern Cloutier's alma mater), whose star player was Paul Duschane, later Don's fellow co-captain at Norwich.  Don was named tournament MVP after recording 13 points in the three-game tournament, tallying seven goals and six assists.  That accomplishment has never been broken to this day..  Four of Don's classmates from MHS's class of 1956 - Art Anderson, Bill Thirkell, Bruce Baker, and Wayne Webber - joined him at Norwich.  Completing Don's intricate Norwich connection was his older brother, Dave, NU class of '59, who helped Coach Priestly recruit Don.  Dave was the Cadet captain in 1959-59, skating with his brother.
Don served for two years in the U.S. Army in Korea, rooming with Gordon Sullivan '59, now a four-star general and Vice-Chief of Staff in the U.S. Army.  Don served four additional years as a reservist, reaching the rank of captain.
Don has owned and sold several companies in the electronics field, among them D.M. Semiconductor Co., Inc.; Hybrid Components, Inc.; and Mitek Corp.  He is presently owner and president of Data Memory Systems in Lawrence, Mass.
Don is an avid golfer and is very involved in the Ipswich and Tara Ferncroft country clubs and their community-related activities.  He is past chairman of the Board of Governors at Ferncroft.  Don and his wife, Joanne, have a son, Lance, a student at Mount Ida College in Newton.  The family resides in Middleton, Mass.
