Mike Ludwar was a four-year letterwinner for the Norwich University men's ice hockey team. The three-time team captain provided invaluable leadership to the 1999-2000 national championship team.
That year the Grayson, Saskatchewan native was selected as a first team American Hockey Coaches Association All-American for the first time in his career.
In 1999 Ludwar was a second team All-American, as well as being named to that year's Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) East All-Tournament team. A two-time ECAC East first-team selection, he was also named to the 1999 New England Hockey Writer's all-star team.
After receiving a degree in Business Management, Ludwar went on to play in Europe for several years.
Of his time at Norwich Ludwar reflects, "I had a great career there. I had a hard work ethic, never gave up. That comes from my parents. I gave it my all. I didn't care about my individual statistics and accolades, just that we were doing well as a team."
"I have a lot to be grateful for to NU. Hockey really paved my life for me, gave me a chance to go to a great school. Hockey has allowed me to do what I have done up to today."
Of NU Head Coach Mike McShane, Ludwar says, "He's a realist. He applies a lot of life lessons in his coaching. Not only does he make good hockey players he makes good people."
He now residesin Williston, Vt., with his wife, Cayce, and their three boys, Jake, Cooper, and Max. "They are my lifeline," Ludwar says of his family. "They support me all the time."
