Commo served as the "Voice of the Cadets" between 1998 and 2023 for WDEV Radio Vermont in addition to broadcasting football, men's hockey and women's hockey for Northeast Sports Network (NSN) and various other athletic events when Norwich expanded its live video-streaming coverage.
"It means an awful lot to be inducted and I'm very proud of the fact that Norwich saw fit to honor me as an inductee," Commo said. "I was lucky to come along at exactly the right time. A lot of people put in a lot of time to get the games on the air in the first place."
Commo said his most cherished memories are having the chance to call the four National Championships that the Norwich Men's Hockey program has won.
"The first National Championship in 2000 in Superior, Mich. was special because it was the first one and nobody in the west, particularly Superior, thought Norwich had a chance. The 2003 win was also very special because it was at home in Kreitzberg and then the 2010 victory in Lake Placid, N.Y. was just an incredible game. Playing it in the same arena as the Miracle on Ice and then being able to beat St. Norbert after we had not much luck against them was incredible."
The 1972 University of Vermont graduate was the play-by-play commentator for UVM hockey for 18 years prior to joining WDEV and broadcasting Norwich games in addition to being on the call for the 2011 women's hockey National Championship win. He is a member of the Vermont Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, a Heisman Trophy voter and has been named the Vermont Sportscaster of the Year 10 times.
