The second Norwich University men’s basketball player to earn All America honors, Kelvin Jenkins was a standout offensive performer for the Cadets who ranks among the programs top-10 in nearly every statistical category. Jenkins was the cornerstone of the 1986-87 Cadets team that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame today as well. He led the Cadets to a 21-5 overall record that year and their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Jenkins averaged over 16 points and nine rebounds a game to earn All-America honors from the National Basketball Coaches Association that year. Jenkins won nearly every honor imaginable as a senior, as he was named to the All-Vermont and All-Northeast region team, and was selected to play in the New England Senior All Star Game with Division I, II and III athletes. He was named to the NABC All-Northeast region team and Al- Vermont team as a junior as well. As a freshman, he partnered with his older brother, Darrell, to help the Cadets to their first NCAA Tournament bid. He finished his career with 1,213 points and 681 rebounds. The Cadets posted a 76-28 record over his four years, a .731 winning percentage. Jenkins came to the Cadets program from his hometown of Cairo, GA, following in the footsteps of his uncle and his older brother who had attended Norwich.  After his playing career, he spent one season as an assistant basketball coach at Norwich to Ed Hockenbury, while earning a master’s degree in education. He spent the following year as an assistant coach at Middlebury College, and one more year as head boys’ basketball coach at Orford (NH) High School.  For the past six years Jenkins has been a sales representative for Wise Foods. He currently resides in White River Junction, VT.
