Jon Ford has been the first and only Norwich University basketball player to reach the 1,000-point/1,000 rebound plateau; however, he may be remembered most for his rebounding. He led the Cadets in rebounding all four years and he finished second in the nation at the conclusion of his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He holds the NU record for the most rebounds in a game with 33 at Plattsburgh State. Plus, he started in more than 90-straight games, was part of the first Norwich basketball class to never have a losing season, and was on NU’s first playoff basketball team. He was also named to the All-New England team and was twice selected as the ECAC Player of the Week.

Ford was a member of the Norwich Corps of Cadets Honor Committee and a member of the Skull and Swords. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in secondary education and he went into the U.S. Army before retiring soon after the 2004 induction ceremony. He was last stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev. as a grounds liaison officer. After retiring from the service, he planned to work as a government contractor in air support on the joint testing and evaluation team.

Ford is married to the former Bonnie Nephew for 19 years and they are the parents of four children, Steven, Kevin, Mychael, and Allison. He enjoys softball and going to concerts.
