Joseph Leddy, Jr. was a four-year star in basketball during his undergraduate years at Norwich University. He captained the basketball team in his sophomore, junior, and senior years and helped establish basketball as a major sport at the school.
Leddy received many honors during his playing career. He was named All-Green Mountain Conference in every season and in his senior year he was selected to the Boston Globe All-New England team and the Spaulding All-East team. That season he led the Cadets to 19 straight home victories, a record which still stands today.
Leddy was also active in many other endeavors during his time at Norwich. In his senior year, he served both as president of his class and of the Student Athlete Association. He also worked as a member of the athletic council and sang in the Glee Club for two years. 
upon graduating from Norwich, Joe went to work for the Exxon Corporation and was assigned to the Petroleum Engineering division. Six years later, in 1941, Joe was called to active military duty. He served his country for five years during World War II. From 1943-46, he worked in the Office of the Chief Signal Officer in Washington, D.C. After the war, Joe went back to Exxon and later became the division head for the componay's Process Operations and Mechanical Division.
As an active member of his community, Joe worked to set up the Arthur Kill Oil Refinery's fire assistance group which provided aid to all large petroleum firms. He also served as president of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Foundation in New Jersey and sat on that hospital's board of governors. 
Joe and his wife, Helen. now reside in Westfield, New Jersey. They have three sons; Joseph, Brian, and Mark.
