Charles G. Pulsford was an outstanding football and hockey player for the Cadets. A team captain on the gridiron, he was a "triple-threat" offensive end who was equally adept at receiving and blocking and excelled as a runner on the end-around play. Chuck holds the NU record for touchdown catches in one game (3 vs. Maine Maritime, 1951) and was a stalwart on defense, playing at the end of the era of the two-way player. As a senior, Chuck was both All-State and All-New England. In addition, he was an outstanding defenseman on the cadet hockey squad.
Active on campus, Chuck rose to the rank of Lt. Col. in the Corps of Cadets, was a member of Skull and Swords and the Honor Committee was three times class president, and chaired both the Winter Carnival and Junior Weekend committees. He earned the rank of captain as an Army aviator with the 205th Signal Co., and he also served as a personnel officer with the 1st Armored Division and the 94th Infantry Division.
Currently, Chuck is an insurance manager who has authored a series of articles. He also contributes considerably to his community, having served as a leader in Club Scout and Boy Scout groups and as a deacon and trustee of South Church in Andover, MA, where he resides with his wife, Barbara.
