Allan F. Beck, co-captain of the 1942 and 1943 Norwich ski teams, won several events at the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Championships and captured the National Intercollegiate Cross-Country Skiing Championship in 1942. A captain in the 126^th Mountain Engineer Battalion and the 86^th Infantry Regiment, Al received the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat in Italy. At the time of induction, Al lived in Shelburne, Vt. and competed in Masters Division Skiing events.
