Colonel Steve Otto was one of the top attackmen in Norwich University’s lacrosse history. Otto ranked among the team’s leading scorers all four years with the program. The team improved significantly during his tenure. After losing all eight games in 1973 prior to his arrival, the team improved to 3-5 in his freshman year, then 6-2 in 1975. The team was awarded the Marsters Trophy in 1975 as the most improved team in New England.Otto received individual honors as well. He was named team MVP in 1974, and was an all New England player as a senior and selected to play in the New England All-Star game. At Norwich he also played rugby, was the vice-president of his sophomore class, and was on the honor committee as a senior before graduating with a degree in business administration. Otto has spent his entire post-graduate career in the US Marine Corps, serving all over the world. A 25-year veteran of the Marine Corps, Otto is currently stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., where he is the commanding officer of 2nd Force Service Support Group, Forward. He has received several Navy Commendation Medals for achievement and meritorious service. He played club lacrosse and rugby while in the Marines, and has been involved with youth soccer and coaching his sons’ Little League teams. Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, and a graduate of Scarsdale (NY) High School, Steve, his wife, Susan, and sons Zachary and Matthew currently reside in Jacksonville, N.C.
