George H. Philley was an outstanding goalie for four years in Coach Bob Priestley's Cadet hockey program. He led the Cadets to a combined 22-17-2 mark in his junior and senior seasons and was named to several all-tournament and post-season all-star teams. In 1961 and 1962, George was named all-tourney at the Brown Christmas Tournament, capturing tourney MVP honors in 1962, leading the Cadets into the title game against Brown. George was named small college All-East in 1962 and 1963 and received honorable mention on the 1964 All-East (all division) team.
As an undergraduate, George swerved NU as a member of the Corps Honor Committee, Skull and Swords, and the Outing Club. After graduation, he served from 1967-1969 as a captain and post engineer for the US Army Engineer Command-Europe at Aschaffenburg, Germany, where he received the Army Commendation Medal. Goerge later joined the Society of American Military Engineers. 
As president and sole owner of Philley & Peabody, INc., George has traveled to Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Japan for various projects in civil, structural, and architectural engineering. He is a member of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. His firm specializes in the design and construction of central generating power stations. 
Active in his community, George is a member of the Melrose, AM board of Appeals and past chairman of the board of trustees and the finance committee of the First United Methodist Church in Melrose. George has also been a member of the Aleppo Temple (Shriners) in Wilmingon, MA. In addition, he has served Norwich as a class agent ('64) and on the Alumni Board od Directors.
A native of Utica, NY, George now resides in Melrose with his wife, Lorna, and their children, Glen and Jennifer.
