Junior goalkeeper Greg Payne (State College, Pa.) of the Norwich University men's soccer team was named a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American for the second straight season on in 2013.

Payne earned Academic All-American honors for the second straight season after leading the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with a 0.52 goals against average and a .884 save percentage. He broke his own personal best record for lowest single season goals against average and now holds the No. 2 and No. 3 spots on the all-time men's soccer individual season records.

He gave up just five goals and made 38 saves while posting a 7-2-2 record and three shutouts. He opened the season with a consecutive shutout streak of 420:26 minutes.

In the classroom, Payne has been equally impressive with a perfect 4.0 GPA as a political science major, while also serving as a first sergeant in the Norwich University Corps of Cadets. He won the Freshman Award for having the highest GPA of all freshmen and he has also been an active volunteer for NU helping out in the Hurricane Irene disaster relief in 2011 as well as volunteering with the men's soccer team in holding Malia Crushes Cancer fundraisers.
