Senior forward Julie Fortier of the Norwich University women's ice hockey teams was tabbed to Capital One Academic All-America First Team At-Large honors on Tuesday, June 5.
Fortier (Saint-Malachie, Quebec)Â graduated last month with a 3.63 G.P.A. and a degree in sports medicine. She re-wrote the NU women's hockey record books and was named as the winner of the 2012 Laura Hurd Award winner presented to the NCAA Division III Ice Hockey National Player of the Year.
Fortier was honored as the New England Hockey Writer's Association Division II-III Player of the Year after leading the nation in scoring with 55 points on 31 goals and 24 assists. She was the ECAC East Player of the Year and also earned American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) First Team All-American honors while leading the Cadets to a 27-3-1 record and a berth in the NCAA Division III championship game.
She finished her career with a program-record 93 goals and 82 assists for 175 points, which ranks eighth on the all-time women's Division III ice hockey scoring list.
