Junior Andrew Albano (Hamilton, Ontario) of the Norwich University men's ice hockey team was named a College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American on Tuesday.

Albano was named to the Second Team and made it three straight and six of the last seven years at least one member of the men's ice hockey program has earned CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.

The CoSIDA Academic All-American program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. 

The men's at-large category comprises student-athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. 

Albano marks the 11th Academic All-American in men's ice hockey history, the most out of all NU varsity athletic programs. 

Albano was one of just two ice hockey selections on the Second Team and four total ice hockey selections out of the 45 overall At-Large All-Americans. Albano was one of just two New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's ice hockey representatives on the Academic All-American teams with Skidmore's Austin Rook also earning the honor by being named to the Third Team.

Albano carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major. He compiled a 5-3 record in goal with a 2.15 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. He also earned New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Goalie of the Week honors one time. 

Albano was named to the FirstLight ShootOut All-Tournament Team, two-time NEHC All-Academic Team honoree and two-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Scholar All-American. 

Albano won the Freshmen and Sophomore Award for the highest GPA in his class. He worked as field engineering intern for Kiewit and did a group project researching how to increase employee engagement. 

Albano competed in the Amazon Web Services Business Challenge, serves as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative, president of Pi Tau Sigma and secretary for Tau Beta Pi.
