Senior Tom Aubrun (Chamonix, France) and sophomore Gabriel Chicoine (St. Dominique, Quebec) both earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American honors on Wednesday.

Aubrun earned First Team honors after his record-setting senior season, while Chicoine earned Third Team honors in his first year of eligibility for the award. Aubrun, Chicoine and Emily Lambert from the women's ice hockey team bring Norwich University's all-time Academic All-American total to 19 selections, including 16 in the last nine years.

The CoSIDA Academic All-American program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The men's at-large category comprises student-athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Aubrun and Chicoine mark the eighth and ninth Academic All-Americans in men's ice hockey history, the most out of all NU varsity athletic programs.

"I would like to congratulate Tom and Gabriel on this tremendous achievement after they have shown tremendous leadership on and off the ice for our team" said Norwich University men's ice hockey coach Cam Ellsworth. Their athletic achievements are well documented, but it is nice to see them get recognized for the diligent work that they have done in the classroom as well."

Aubrun was one of just two ice hockey selections on the First Team, while the Norwich duo was among just six overall ice hockey selections out of the 45 overall At-Large All-Americans. Aubrun and Chicoine were the only New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's ice hockey players to earn Academic All-American honors.

Aubrun carried a 3.77 cumulative GPA as a Business Management major off the ice. On the ice, he went on to author one of the most historic seasons in NCAA hockey history in 2019-20.

Aubrun established five new NCAA Division III men's hockey records, including an unprecedented 553:51 consecutive shutout minutes' streak (nine games), which has never been replicated at any level or gender in college hockey history.

He won the 2020 Sid Watson National Player of the Year and USCHO.com National Player of the Year awards, as well as finished his career as a two-time All-American. Aubrun is the all-time NCAA Division III save percentage (.946) and goals against leader (1.27), as well as the single-season shutout record holder (14).

He is a two-time NEHC Player/Goalie of the Year, two-time NEHC Tournament Most Valuable Player and was a member of the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championship team.

Aubrun is also a two-time AHCA Scholar All-American and a three-time NEHC All-Academic team honoree.
