ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Norwich University's 45-point team
total at the 46th annual Rochester Institute of
Technology tournament was highlighted by a pair of fourth-place
finishes Dec. 3.
Sophomore 149-pounder Evan Poole (West Milford, N.J.) and
sophomore heavyweight Anthony Joyce (Lincoln, R.I.) helped lead the
Maroon and Gold to a seventh-place team finish. Poole worked his
way through the wrestlebacks to reach the consolation championship,
while Joyce made it to the championship semifinals en route to a
similar final outcome.
The Cadets' team-point total left them only nine points
shy of the top six with Kings College of Pennsylvania placing sixth
with 54. John Carroll University of Ohio held off a stiff charge
from Wesleyan College for first by a 159.5-137.5 score.
Coach John Hartupee's squad closes its pre-Christmas
schedule by opening its home dual slate Saturday, Dec. 10 against
Roger Williams College. Match time is 1 p.m. inside Plumley
