NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich Men's Wrestling team returned home to Plumley Armory for the final time this season Saturday afternoon when they hosted Southern Maine on a day where the eleven members of the 2024-25 graduating class were recognized.
The day started with the Cadets picking up several wins in exhibition matches with
Robby Lyons (Milford, Mass.),
Ethan Tanner (Walker, W. Va.), Rory Nolan (Wadsworth, Ohio), and
Kade Crawford (Euless, Texas) all picking up wins by fall to go with a tech fall for
Ben Fournier (Hebron, Conn.).
After senior day festivities concluded,
Jabari Pinkney (Jessup, Md.) got the main card started with a win by tech fall. The Huskies, answered by winning two straight before
Gannon White (Rincon, Ga.) pinned Alberto Mendoza in the 149-pound matchup.
Tyler Russ (Freehold, N.J.) went the distance, dropping a close decision top tier wrestler Colby Frost at 157-pounds prior to consecutive pins for
Cooper Galvin (Orlando, Fla.) and
Simon Taraska (Willowick, Ohio). With the dual tied at 23 heading into the 285-pound bout,
Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) concluded the day with a win by fall, clinching the win.
Up next, junior varsity wrestlers will compete in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures tournament on Feb. 23 at Western New England before NCAA Northeast Regionals hosted by Wesleyan.
