ITHACA, N.Y.– Norwich University junior Abe Bray (Gold Bar, Wash.) highlighted day one for the Cadets at the Ithaca University Invitational Nov. 4.
Bray battled his way into semifinal round action Saturday, Nov. 5, by pinning Thiel's Colin Geer in 6:50 and upending Ithaca's Matt Butler 5-0. Bray takes on top-seeded Nick Sanko of Ithaca in one of two semifinals while Nick Bach of Centenary and David Rice of New York University collide on the other side of the bracket.
Bray's march helped lead the Cadets to 48 team points, good for eighth place. Coach John Hartupee's squad also has five other individuals alive in wrestleback competition. Sophomore 157-pounder Dave Pinto (Milford, Mass.), sophomore heavyweights Anthony Joyce (Lincoln , R.I.) and Alex Lawrence (Ledyard, Conn.), sophomore 141-pounder Tyrell Carstarphen (Topeka, Ks.) and freshman heavyweight Alex Stewart (Ellicott City, Md.) each earned wins Friday.
