FLINT, Mich. – Norwich University Head Men's Soccer Coach Rob Emmett added another national championship to his resume this summer, serving as goalkeeper coach for Vermont Green FC as the club captured its second consecutive USL League Two National Championship with a 2-1 victory over Flint City Bucks this past weekend. The title capped another undefeated championship campaign for one of the premier semi-professional soccer clubs in the country.
Emmett's role with Vermont Green has placed him alongside some of the nation's top collegiate players while working under Head Coach Chris Taylor and former Norwich men's soccer Head Coach, Adam Pfeifer, who serves as the club Sporting Director. The back-to-back national titles further establish Vermont Green as one of the standard-bearers in American semi-professional soccer and highlight the continued growth of the sport throughout the Green Mountain State.
For Norwich Men's Soccer, Emmett's continued involvement at the highest level of the USL League Two landscape provides a direct connection between Cadet student-athletes and one of the country's elite developmental environments. Throughout the summer, Emmett works daily with nationally recognized talent, bringing back immense tactical knowledge, and championship-level standards that are directly applied to his program at Norwich.

The championship is another milestone for Vermont soccer as a whole. Since its founding, Vermont Green FC has become a source of statewide pride and national media attention, drawing thousands of supporters to Virtue Field at the University of Vermont while showcasing the quality of soccer being played across Vermont. The club's sustained success has elevated the profile of the sport throughout the region and demonstrated that Vermont can compete on a national stage in this sport.
The Green were founded in October of 2021, when former Cadets Head Men's Soccer Coach, Adam Pfeifer was signed by the club to become both the head coach and sporting director in its inaugural season. Pfeifer was at the helm for the first three years of the Green's existence before passing the torch to long time assistant, Chris Tayor in February of 2025, just months before their first USL League Two National Championship.
For Norwich, Emmett's summer experience represents far more than another coaching accomplishment. It reflects the caliber of leadership deeply embedded within the Cadets' program and reinforces Norwich's commitment to developing players under coaches who continue to learn and compete at the highest levels of the collegiate game.
