Men's Soccer: Cadets Earn Institutional Sportsmanship Recognition to Lead End-of-Season Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) unveiled its end-of-season awards on Tuesday afternoon, with several members of the Norwich University men's soccer team recognized for their outstanding performances and sportsmanship during the 2025 campaign.

As a team, the Cadets were honored with the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award, recognizing consistent gentlemanly conduct both on and off the field throughout the season.

Individually, five Cadets earned All-Conference recognition, headlined by senior midfielder Oleksandr Kharchuk (Ukraine), who was named to the All-GNAC Second Team and also selected to the GNAC All-Tournament Team for his steady presence in the defensive midfield.

Three more Cadets landed on the All-GNAC Third Team, including fellow All-Tournament Team honoree Diego Fuentes (Valencia, Spain), Gabriel Cantarero (Annapolis, Md.), and Kirk Rodgers (Lebanon, Ohio).

Fuentes finished among the GNAC's top 10 in both goals and total points, tallying seven goals on the season, including a league-best four game-winners.  He also delivered in critical moments, scoring the game-tying goal in the GNAC Quarterfinals.

Cantarero anchored one of the GNAC's top defensive units, helping Norwich allow a league-low 15 goals.  Rodgers was instrumental in net, finishing the season ranked second in save percentage (.803), second in total goals allowed (12), tied for second in shutouts (5), and first in goals-against average (0.86).

Rounding out the Cadets' honorees was sophomore Nick DePeppe (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

"I am extremely proud of our award winners," said Head Coach Rob Emmett. "These awards are just a small token for their hard work and dedication to the Norwich men's soccer Program."

Norwich concluded the 2025 campaign with a two-win improvement over the previous season and a berth in the GNAC Semifinals.
