ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The winningest season in Norwich University men's tennis history was matched by another strong collection of postseason honors on Tuesday afternoon, as four Cadets earned Empire 8 Athletic Conference All-Conference recognition following the league's 2026 campaign.
Sophomore
Jaxson Redmond (Kennebunkport, Maine) and junior
Terrance Bayly-Henshaw (Scottsville, N.Y.) highlighted Norwich's honorees with Empire 8 First Team selections in East Division singles play. The duo also landed on the Empire 8 First Team in East Division doubles after anchoring the Cadets' top doubles flight throughout the spring.
Sophomores
Stephen Hartigan (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and
Juan Gonzalez Torres (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) added East Division Second Team honors in doubles, while Bayly-Henshaw was also selected as Norwich's representative on the 2026 Empire 8 Men's Tennis Tomorrow's Leaders Team.
The Empire 8 split its 2026 men's tennis awards by East and West Division, with First Team and Second Team recognition awarded separately for singles and doubles competition in each division.
Redmond earned First Team singles honors for the second straight season after leading Norwich at the top of the lineup. The sophomore posted a 9-4 overall singles record, including a 3-0 mark in Empire 8 play, while playing all 13 of his singles matches at the No. 1 position.
A steady presence against opposing top-flight players, Redmond earned Empire 8 Singles Player of the Week honors twice during the season, receiving the award for the weeks of Mar. 9-15 and Mar. 30-Apr. 5. His play at first singles helped set the tone for a Norwich lineup that finished 63-34 overall in singles competition and remained among the most consistent groups in the East Division.
Bayly-Henshaw joined Redmond on the East Division First Team in singles, collecting All-Empire 8 singles recognition for the second consecutive year. The junior turned in one of the strongest individual records on the roster, finishing 11-2 overall in singles action with a 3-1 mark in conference play.
Bayly-Henshaw went 1-0 at No. 1 singles and 10-2 at No. 2 singles, giving Norwich a reliable point near the top of the lineup throughout the spring. He was named Empire 8 Singles Player of the Week for Apr. 20-26 after helping the Cadets close the regular season and continue their push toward the postseason.
Together, Redmond and Bayly-Henshaw again formed one of the East Division's premier doubles pairings, earning First Team doubles honors for the second straight season. The tandem went 9-3 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 play as a duo, competing exclusively at the No. 1 doubles flight.
Bayly-Henshaw finished the season with a 10-3 overall doubles record and a 3-1 mark in Empire 8 play, with all 13 matches coming at first doubles. Redmond posted a 9-3 doubles record, including a 2-1 conference mark, also entirely at No. 1. The pair earned Empire 8 Doubles Team of the Week honors for Mar. 16-22, adding another weekly award to a spring in which Norwich's top flight remained one of the team's most dependable spots.
Hartigan and Gonzalez Torres gave Norwich a second doubles pairing among the league's honorees, earning East Division Second Team recognition after playing key roles across the middle and lower doubles flights.
Hartigan finished the season with an 8-5 doubles record, including a 2-1 mark in Empire 8 play. He went 2-3 at No. 2 doubles and 6-2 at No. 3 doubles, providing important depth as Norwich continued to build early advantages in dual matches.
Gonzalez Torres closed the year at 8-6 overall in doubles competition with a 3-1 record against Empire 8 opponents. He went 1-0 at No. 1 doubles, 3-5 at No. 2, and 4-1 at No. 3, contributing across all three flights while helping the Cadets finish 32-17 overall in doubles play.
Bayly-Henshaw was also named to the 2026 Empire 8 Men's Tennis Tomorrow's Leaders Team. The honor recognizes one student-athlete from each institution who has emerged as a leader on the field of play, in the classroom, and in the community, while competing with honor and integrity.
The All-Conference awards cap another historic season for Norwich under Head Coach
Scott Barker. The Cadets finished 13-4 overall and 4-1 in Empire 8 play, setting a new program record for wins in a single season after previously establishing the mark with 10 victories in 2025. Norwich also posted a 9-1 record inside Shapiro Fieldhouse, went 4-2 on the road, and reached the Empire 8 Semifinals for the second consecutive season.
Norwich advanced to the semifinal round after earning a 6-1 victory over SUNY Delhi in the Empire 8 First Round, a result that pushed the Cadets to their 13th win of the spring. The season closed with Norwich holding a 95-51 combined record across singles and doubles competition, including a 63-34 mark in singles play and a 32-17 record in doubles.
