ROCHESTER, N.Y. - After leading the Norwich University men's tennis team through a pivotal week to close the regular season and open postseason play, junior
Terrance Bayly-Henshaw (Scottsville, N.Y.) has been named the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The honor marks Bayly-Henshaw's first Player of the Week selection of the 2026 season and the second of his career, following his initial accolade on Apr. 28, 2025. It also represents Norwich's third Empire 8 weekly award of the spring, continuing a strong run of conference recognition for the program.
Bayly-Henshaw delivered a consistent performance near the top of the Cadets' lineup, going a perfect 2-0 at No. 2 singles across a pair of matches while contributing in doubles play against strong competition.
He opened the week with Norwich's lone point in a non-conference matchup at Rhode Island College, earning a composed 6-2, 7-5 victory over Sairaj Srinivasan. Competing in one of the tightest matches of the afternoon, Bayly-Henshaw closed out a competitive second set to secure the Cadets' result and carry momentum into the postseason.
The junior followed with another strong showing in Saturday's Empire 8 First Round contest against SUNY Delhi, defeating Nicholas VanHouten in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, as Norwich posted a convincing 6-1 team victory inside Shapiro Fieldhouse.
His performance helped the Cadets improve to 13-3 overall, setting a new program record for wins in a single season while advancing to the Empire 8 Semifinals.
Bayly-Henshaw also made an impact in doubles competition at the top flight alongside
Jaxson Redmond (Kennebunkport, Maine). The duo pushed Rhode Island College's top pairing to a tiebreak decision before falling 7-6, and later rebounded with a 7-5 victory over SUNY Delhi to complete a doubles sweep and secure the opening point in postseason play.
Norwich will continue its postseason run on Friday, May 1, traveling to Thomas College for the Empire 8 Semifinals, where the Cadets will face West Division top seed St. John Fisher University.
