ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Terrance Bayly-Henshaw (Scottsville, N.Y.) of the Norwich University men's tennis team continued his impressive week, receiving Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week plaudits, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Bayly-Henshaw turned in a dominant week for the Cadets, helping propel Norwich to a critical 5-4 regular season finale win over Vermont State University Castleton and an 8-1 victory over SUNY Delhi in the Empire 8 Quarterfinals. Across the two matches, Bayly-Henshaw went a perfect 4-0, winning both of his No. 2 singles matches and partnering with
Jaxson Redmond (Kennebunkport, Maine) for two No. 1 doubles wins.
In singles action, Bayly-Henshaw showcased resilience with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 win over VTSU Castleton's Tanner Ciufo before powering past SUNY Delhi's Devin Guerrieri in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. In doubles, he and Redmond cruised to convincing victories of 8-4 over VTSU Castleton's top tandem and 8-2 over SUNY Delhi's No. 1 pair.
Bayly-Henshaw's contributions were critical as Norwich clinched its first home playoff victory since 2015, improving to 10-3 overall and advancing to the Empire 8 Semifinals for the first time in program history.
The honor marks the second Empire 8 weekly accolade of the season for Bayly-Henshaw, who previously earned Doubles Team of the Week alongside Redmond in mid-April. It also represents the Cadets' fourth Player of the Week award this year and their seventh overall Empire 8 weekly award during a historic campaign.
Norwich, an associate member of the North Atlantic Conference and affiliate member of the Empire 8, will now prepare for a semifinal showdown at Nazareth University on Friday, May 2.
