The New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) announced their year end awards earlier this week where several members of the Norwich wrestling team were honored.
For the second straight season, heavyweight
Mason Sprinkel (Bel Air, Md.) earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention. It was a historic season for Sprinkel, who tied the program record for pins in a single season (26) which also led the country. Also earning All-Conference honorable mention at 197-pounds was
Thoren Berg (Holliston, Mass.).
On the academic side, five wrestlers were named to the NEWA All-Academic team in
Carver Moyer, Grayson Merola,
James Spellman,
Joshua Ducharme,
Nathaniel Nagel and Berg who led the way for a Norwich team that finished in the NCAA Division III Team Scholar All-America Top 30, with Berg being named individually as a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
