ITHACA, N.Y. – The Norwich University men's wrestling team opened its 2025–26 tournament season with a strong showing at the two-day Ithaca Invitational over the weekend, featuring several standout individual performances and five podium finishes.
Robby Lyons (Milford, Mass.), Carver Moyer (Easton, Pa.), and Gannon White (Rincon, Ga.) each earned top-four finishes to pace the Cadets in a competitive field that included multiple nationally ranked programs.
At 125 pounds, Lyons battled his way to a fourth-place finish after racking up 15.5 team points. Lyons opened the tournament with a first-period fall over Greensboro's Christian Edwards and added wins over Ithaca's Andrew Aparo and Cosmo Damiani before ultimately dropping the third-place bout to Oswego State's Juan Roque by major decision.
At 133 pounds, Moyer impressed with a third-place finish and a team-high 18.5 points. After early wins over Springfield's Mason Jacobellis and Oswego State's Jacob Carioscia, Moyer rebounded from a quarterfinal loss with four straight victories in the consolation rounds. The junior capped his day with a 6-4 decision over Springfield's Esuar Ordonez in the third-place match.
White also earned a spot on the podium, taking third at 157 pounds. After an early setback, he battled through the consolation bracket with five straight victories, including three pins and an overtime win over Castleton's Justyce Mercado in the semifinal. White closed the day by defeating Dominick Lapier of Castleton, 7-2, to secure third.
Kevin Rodriguez (Sylmar, Calif.) added a fifth-place showing at 197 pounds, scoring 12.5 points highlighted by a dominant 20-5 tech fall and a pin in the championship rounds before earning a 2-1 decision over Ithaca's Xavier Pommells in the fifth-place match.
