WORCESTER, Mass. – The Norwich University wrestling team picked up a strong dual victory over Emmanuel College and delivered multiple standout individual performances across a competitive quad-meet Friday hosted by WPI. The Cadets defeated Emmanuel 24–21, but fell to WPI (24–19) and Roger Williams (28–14).
Norwich collected 14 individual bout victories on the night, including three wins apiece from
Kevin Rodriguez (Sylmar, Calif.),
Rory Nolan (Wadsworth, Ohio), and
Gannon White (Rincon, Ga.), while
Robby Lyons (Milford, Mass.) and
Nicholas Berrena (State College, Pa.) added dominant performances of their own.
WPI 24, Norwich 19
Norwich earned five bout victories in a highly competitive dual, led by another explosive performance from Lyons, who opened the match with a 26–9 tech fall.
After WPI tied the score, Berrena reclaimed momentum with a 21–6 tech fall at 141. White, Rodriguez, and Nolan each added decisions down the stretch, but WPI's bonus points at 149, 165, 174, and 184 proved to be the difference.
Norwich 24, Emmanuel 21
Norwich opened the evening with a dramatic comeback victory, securing the dual with clutch wins in the final two heavyweight bouts.
The Cadets jumped out to an early 8–0 lead behind major decisions from Lyons (20–10) at 125 and
Carver Moyer (Easton, Pa.) (18–5) at 133. Emmanuel countered with wins at 141 and 149, but White delivered a crucial pin at 5:26 to put Norwich ahead 14–7.
The Saints surged to a 21–14 advantage with victories at 165, 174, and a fall at 184, but Norwich closed emphatically. Rodriguez posted an 11–3 major decision at 197 to bring the Cadets within three before
Rory Nolan sealed the match with a fall at 5:42.

Roger Williams took the early momentum with wins in the first two bouts, but Berrena provided a major spark for the Cadets at 141 lbs, earning a fall at 6:11 to close the gap to 7–6.
RWU followed with four straight victories to build a 28–6 lead before Norwich closed the match with strong efforts in the upper weights.
At 197 lbs,
Kevin Rodriguez continued his unbeaten night with a 12–4 major decision, and
Rory Nolan capped the dual with an 11–1 major decision at heavyweight.
