Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's tennis team locked up another non-conference victory over an in-state foe, sweeping Vermont State University Lyndon, 9-0, on Tuesday evening in Shapiro Fieldhouse.
The Cadets spurred the romp with three-straight victories in doubles, kicked off in No. 1 by
Terrance Bayly-Henshaw (Scottsville, N.Y.) and
Assumpta Nandawula's (Bakersfield, Calif.) 8-3 win.Â
Matthias Tchantouridze (Montpelier, Vt.) and
Sean Horgan ripped off an 8-0 sweep in No. 2 doubles, while
Sophia Sevi (Montpelier, Vt.) and
Ethan Teluk (Manlius, N.Y.) captured an 8-3 victory in No. 3 doubles to close the opening affair.
Singles competition featured a slew of competitive bouts, with Bayly-Henshaw, Tchantouridze, Horgan, Teluk, and
Noah Sham (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) sweeping all five of their bouts. The afternoon was highlighted by a key super tiebreaker match-up between Nandawula and David Gratton, as Gratton took a 4-6 opening win before Nandawula forced the tiebreaker on a 6-0 sweep. Nandawula completed the perfect afternoon for the Cadets with a 10-5 victory in the super tiebreaker.
